Cybercriminals target open FTP servers

According to the FBI cybercriminals are actively targeting medical and dental facilities that operate FTP servers. You are at risk if:

  • You allow “anonymous” access to your FTP server
  • Personally identifiable information (PII) or protected health information (PHI) is stored on these servers

If you’re at risk you’ll want to do ONE of the following:

  • Disable “anonymous” FTP access
  • Remove all PII and PHI data from any FTP server that allows “anonymous” access
